The following e-mail was sent to all clubs today
Dear club Chairmen and Secretaries
The area committee has now had written confirmation that clubs and club officials are fully covered against claims that might arise if a lapsed member had an incident. This saga has come about as there are now more members whose membership starts on the day they join the BMFA rather than the traditional 1st January. Note that whilst the club and its officials are covered, lapsed members may find they are “on their own”.
A very easy way for membership secs to check their members BMFA status is here and only needs to be done occasionally.
